Description of volunteer opportunity: Counsellor
Role Title: Counsellor Supervised by: Counselling team leader Supervisory responsibility: None
Role summary: To undertake counselling in respect of MhIST clients within an ethical framework and in line with MhIST's own policies and procedures.
What?
Provision of regular counselling to clients
To maintain records/notes as agreed with counselling team leader
To undertake regular clinical supervision
Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
Work within a sound ethical framework
Demonstrate a good understanding of issues around client confidentiality
Demonstrate a non-judgemental approach to all people
When and where
All counselling takes place at 30 Chorley New Road, Bolton, BL1 4AP
Skills, Qualifications and Qualities required
Minimum Counselling Level Three Qualification and working towards Diploma
Demonstrate an understanding of mental health issues
Honest and reliable
Have the ability to act on your own initiative
Believe in equal opportunities and respect the rights of all people
N.B Specific mental health awareness training will be provided by MhIST prior to you starting work with us, this induction training and enhanced CRB (Criminal records bureau) check is mandatory.
